Ullswater Walking Festival

The Ullswater Outdoor Festival takes place from 24th September to 2nd October and showcases this magnificent valley. Serene and tranquil Ullswater valley offers fantastic walking opportunities - from gentle lakeshore strolls to challenging airy high fell hikes. The volunteers have chosen some fabulous walks for this festival week to help you discover and explore some of lakeland's most stunning scenery. Let our experienced walk leaders guide you to some of our very favourite special spots. Choose from a variety of walks, from lofty high fell hikes to low level leisurely strolls. RSPB Red Deer Cruises - Sold Out

From 6th October 2016 to 9th October 2016

This event is now sold out. RSPB escorted private cruise from Glenridding to Howtown, then transfers into Martindale to witness nature's spectacle the Red Deer Rut. Departs Glenridding 10.30am returns 3.30pm, £15 non-RSPB members & £13 members, children (5 to 15 years) half price, proceeds to RSPB. This is a very popular event and we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment as places are limited. Please wear suitable clothing; bring a packed lunch, light refreshments are available on-board. There is a five minute walk with an initial moderate uphill climb, then a level path. There is a stream to cross so appropriate footwear is required. Please feel free to bring your own binoculars or scopes although good quality viewing equipment is on hand, supplied by the RSPB. It is a great day out for all ages and one of nature’s finest events. Dogs not permitted.

Autumn Colours Photography Cruise & Walk with Mark Littlejohn

Join us and Mark Littlejohn to capture the magnificent Autumn colours through the lens with a photography expert, around the Aira Force waterfalls, stopping at the National Trust tearoom to pick up a complimentary takeaway tea/coffee and muffin before heading back along the footpath to Glenridding. Meet at Glenridding Pier for the 10am sailing to Aira Force, returning by foot at approx. 2.30pm. Please wear suitable clothing; bring a packed lunch, the walk back to Glenridding is 3.5 miles for easy/moderate fitness. £30 per person, ticket price includes Photography tuition & guide, single cruise to Aira Force and complimentary tea/coffee & muffin or danish pastry. Dogs welcome, but on leads at all times.

spark! Fire & Light Procession. Magical, illuminated drummers Spark! will perform at Glenridding Pier at 4:40pm. They will then journey from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge on the 4:55 sailing. At 6pm they will arrive at Pooley Bridge and will be joined by a community procession of fire, masks and music. Spark! lead the procession along Pooley Bridge High Street to the field behind The Sun Inn, where Spark! will take to the stage. After which everyone can gather round the bonfire. Halloween Ghostly Galleon - Book in Advance

Magic, monsters and mayhem on-board the Ghostly Galleon with magician Stu-Di-Doo. A 90 minute cruise departing from Glenridding at either 12.30pm or 2.30pm. Ticket price £12.50 per spook, under 3s free, includes cruise, magic show, take home your own monster balloon and a sweetie goodie bag. Extra activities on-board include tattoos and Halloween colouring. Tea/coffee and Pumpkin squash also included. Dogs not permitted.
