The Ullswater Valley is a joyous place to be in autumn, there are meandering rivers, gushing ghylls, woodland glades and majestic mountains, a place where you can truly be at one with nature.
One such haven of tranquillity is the remote valley of Martindale, tucked away on the western shore of Ullswater. In this out of the way place sits the Nab a red deer conservation area, home to the oldest native red deer herd in England, established during the time of William the Conqueror.
