at Ullswater 'Steamers'
Posted 13th October 2016
Penrith’s unique celebration of masks, magic and mayhem - featuring the annual Kyloes Drovers Cup, funfair, street entertainment, music, market and more will take place on 12th November, and as an additional one-off to mark the recovery of flood hit Ullswater this year there will be a mini-droving at Ullswater on the evening of the 26th October.
On the Wednesday of half term the Ullswater Droving will take place with the popular Spark! (that featured in the Winter Droving 2014) setting sail on an Ullswater steamer from Glenridding to arrive for a torch-lit procession through Pooley Bridge just as darkness falls, all followed by a bonfire in the field behind the Sun Inn. The usual rules apply - wear a mask, dress up!! People wanting to join in the torch procession should make sure they are at the Ullswater Steamer Pooley Bridge jetty by 5.15pm to get their torch, the steamer leaves Glenridding at 4.55.
