Ullswater 'Steamers' makes prestigious list of top UK heritage attractions

Ullswater ‘Steamers’ has been named as one of the UK’s top historic attractions by Which? Travel magazine – beating the likes of Westminster Abbey, Hampton Court Palace and St Paul’s Cathedral.

The new list, just revealed in the magazine’s September edition, names Ullswater ‘Steamers’ as the only North West attraction in the top twenty.

It follows a reader survey of the most popular historic attractions worthy of a day trip or a weekend break, with the Lake District favourite scoring an overall 82% rating overall to place it 17th on the list nationally. There was also a five-star rating in the category of “description meeting reality” for the overall experience and dramatic setting.

Which? publications have been renowned for their independent reports on consumer issues and product testing for almost seven decades and bosses at Ullswater ‘Steamers’ say it’s a real honour to be included on the list.

Rachel Bell, Head of Marketing & Development at Ullswater ‘Steamers’, says, “We are delighted, what an accolade! We were thrilled to find out that the ‘Steamers’ had got such a resounding thumbs up from the people who matter the most – our passengers.

Not only are we the only attraction in Cumbria in the top twenty, but also the whole of North West England. It really does give us all an immense sense of pride that we are continuing to create such positive, memorable experiences for people.”

Ullswater ‘Steamers’ has introduced new timetables and fares, for both the main timetable and the Aira Force shuttle service.

Due to social distancing, all passengers should pre-book a minimum of 2 tickets per sailing online before 9am on the chosen date of travel. Face coverings should also be worn. Dogs are welcome for £1.00 each.
