at Ullswater 'Steamers'
Posted 17th April 2014
We’ve seen teddy bears of all shapes and sizes so far this Easter, at both the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and Ullswater ‘Steamers’, but that doesn’t mean we don’t wish to see more.
Teddies old, new, much-hugged and very smart have all been boarding our trains and boats with their young owners, because right up to April 24, children aged 5-15 can travel free on our trains or boats, if they bring their teddy along.
Children under 5 travel free anyway, so this means we’ve lots of children enjoying both attractions with their parents and grandparents.
Our mascots, La’al Ratty and Sammy the Squirrel, have been adding to the fun, so if you too wish to meet them, tell your parents to spruce up your teddy and head along to one of our stations or piers. You can find out how to reach us at www.ravenglass-railway and www.ullswater-steamers
But if you can’t make it during these holidays, we also have our Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Family Fun Weekend coming up between May 3 and May 5 and that’s absolutely packed with things to do. It’s not many weeks off now, so put it in your diary!
There will be engines on display, circus skills, guided waterfall walks, face painting, a line panel quiz, the Bay Radio Roadshow (live on the 3rd), mountain bike hire, pony and trap rids, owls, Roman enactments, story reading and author book signing and charities with stands and activities. Add to that a lot of mascot action, with La’al, Sammy, Max Meadowvole and Bay Radio Bear and it’s lots of fun for everyone.
There’s no need to stay cooped up inside when we’ve so much to see and do, so make a beeline for either the Railway or the Steamers and have a great day out.
