Visit the beautiful remote valley of Martindale and hear the roar of the Red Deer during a wildlife event not to be missed this October.
Home to the oldest native red deer herd in England, the conservation area on the western shores of Ullswater is the perfect place to catch sight of the Red Deer Rut.
The enchanting competition – which involves the biggest and strongest males in the herd trying to round up the females (hinds) for mating – results in a bellowing echo around the fells as dominance is fought for.
With stunning mountain scenery and gushing waterfalls, the Eden Valley is a wonderful place to be as the autumn colours shine through, and what better excuse to visit than to see one of nature’s amazing sights
