We are delighted to announce that we are re-opening Ullswater Steamers from Friday 16th April.

To register interest for early bird ticket sales please click here.  Our capacity is severely restricted so please book early to avoid disappointment!

Glenridding Pier House is currently open for takeaway tea, coffee, ice cream etc. The toilet facilities will be open, and the car park is chargeable and monitored. The retail shop will remain closed and all adjacent outdoor seating next to the Pier House has been removed until the 16th April.

We are supportive of the Government guidance to ease the country out of this lockdown, keeping you and our communities safe as part of the Step 2 lifting of national lockdown restrictions.

Please note the following dates (in line with Steps 1-3 of the Government's plan for lifting national lockdown restrictions) and how this will affect your day out with us:

1st - 16th April

Food & Drink: The café at Glenridding Pier House is open for takeaways only. Customers cannot consume takeaways on adjacent outdoor seating.

Social Contact: People can leave home for recreation and exercise outdoors with their household or support bubble, if they are eligible for one, or with one person from outside their household.

Travel: Advised against unnecessary travel until 12th April but the ‘stay at home’ message has been withdrawn and replaced with we advise you to ‘stay local’ and avoid unnecessary travel. Government guidance instructs people to continue to stay local where possible and minimise travel throughout the first 3 steps of the roadmap. “Staying in your local area means stay in the village, town, or part of the city where you live.” This means people should avoid travelling further than is reasonably necessary until the 12th of April. Car park is open and chargeable at Glenridding Pier.

Cruises: Boats will operate a limited service from Friday 16th April until 21st June. Timetables will be regularly reviewed and updated online. Please pre-book tickets due to limited capacity. Only one household/support bubble (max of six persons) can pre-book tickets and travel together onboard.

Test & Trace: Please use the NHS app and scan in on arrival at the premises.

16th April - 17th May

Food & Drink: The rules regarding takeaways are the same as Step 1 but customers can consume food & drink on the outside seating by the Pier House. No food or drink onboard. Onboard saloons remain closed.

Social Contact: Indoors limited to the same household/bubble only. Outdoors, two households can meet, rule of six applies.

May 17th – 21st June

Food & Drink: Six people or two households can meet indoors. Cafés, pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues can seat customers indoors.

Social Contact: Most legal restrictions on meeting others outdoors will be lifted - although gatherings of over 30 people will remain illegal. Indoors, the Rule of 6 or 2 households will apply – this will be kept under review to decide if it is safe to increase this. Saloons will be reviewed at this stage.

21st June onwards

Social contact: Step 4 will take place no earlier than 21 June; the Government hopes to be able to remove all legal limits on social contact. We can then operate at full capacity and lift some if not all social distancing measures.

Test & Trace

It is still a legal requirement for hospitality/tourism in England:

  • to continue with track and trace work
  • to collect the names of all persons travelling over the age of 16 (not just the lead person in the group) pre booking
  • to display NHS QR code posters so that customers can register their presence on arrival at the premises using the NHS COVID-19 app

Please note, we advise non pre booked passengers to scan in via the NHS app upon arrival.   For customers that refuse to provide contact details (either under our own track and trace arrangements or checking in with the NHS app), all reasonable steps will be taken to prevent access to the attraction. The NHS COVID-19 app can be downloaded in advance to scan the QR code posters.
