The tranquillity of a day trip or longer visit to Ullswater is easily reached by public transport. The nearest station Penrith – a charming, historic market town on the edge of Ullswater – is served by frequent rail services from across the UK. From here, connect with Stagecoach buses for the 25 minute journey to Pooley Bridge Village, where you can board a lake cruise and alight at various points to explore the area at your leisure, or enjoy one of the many walks.

 

The discounted combined 'Ullswater bus & lake cruise ticket' must be bought at the same time as your train travel to Penrith. The Stagecoach 108 and 508 services run from Penrith to Patterdale connecting with the Ullswater ‘Steamer’ North and South Pier.The 508 service continues into Bowness-on-Windermere as part of their extensive Lake District network.
